Structure Fire Cedar Trail
Mountain Lodge Park 12-16-2007
0430 hrs. The Salisbury Mills Fire Department (SMFD) was dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Cedar Trail in the Mountain Lodge Park community. Car 2 (Johnson) called out of service, and immediately made a request to the Town DPW to respond due to a Nor-Easter that was hitting Orange County. At the time of the call, there was already about 4" of snow and ice covering the roads. SMFD units arrived on scene to find a working fire with 3 seriously injured children on the front lawn of the residence. Car 2 assumed Command and a 2nd alarm was requested with additional EMS to the scene due to the possibility of 7 or more victims. SMFD personnel began to relocate the three unconscious victims away from the well involved structure so that EMS care could begin.
As additional units continued to
arrive on scene, SMFD EMS personnel aided with patient care and Firefighters
began an aggressive attack of the fire. Blooming Grove Ambulance (BGVAC) Medic
494 arrived on scene and took over EMS duties and patient care. BGVAC & SMFD
personnel moved the 7 patients into the house across the street from the fire
building and begin triage.
Due to the difficult weather conditions, a 3rd alarm tanker assignment was
requested and the fire was brought under control. Approximately 55 firefighters
and 10 pieces of apparatus from the Salisbury Mills Fire Department responded to
this incident in addition to the mutual aid companies listed below. Units
remained on scene until 10 AM to assist the OC Fire Investigation unit.
